Linville Law Firm PLLC

At Linville Law Firm PLLC, each of us is connected to the others because of our constant need to collaborate and cooperate with others in the firm. That way, cases and legal matters move forward without interruptions or delays, and clients get the collective energies and experiences of a team. Someone is always helping out someone else on a case, acting as a sounding board, helping out with the development of a case strategy, doing some legal research, coordinating a trial date with the court, scheduling depositions etc. We also do a lot of connecting with each other out of the office.

October 31st, 2008

We had a harvest party in our office on Friday, October 31st. The staff had the brilliant idea to dress as the attorneys in the office for their Halloween costumes. It was quite a surprise for the attorneys who didn't know any costumes were being created!

Alida dressed as Seth and wore a plaid button up shirt, a sweater vest, black glasses, dress pants and tennis shoes. She was a mirror image of Seth! Katie was Hamilton and wore jeans, a bright yellow shirt and Dino Rossi stickers. Emily, portraying Christian, had a flannel shirt on with wild board shorts and flip flops. The picture on the left is a candid shot of Christian's reaction when he walked in and realized Emily was dressed up as him. She even messed up her hair a bit for the photo!

Allie was Larry and dressed in plaid shorts, a t-shirt equipped with 'blades, headphones, and skate cones for tricks. Gloria couldn't find a good "David wig" in time. But, she did find a big curly blonde wig that she wore and surprised Katie by dressing up as her! The photo on the right is of all of the staff members in their costumes.

The afternoon consisted of lunch from Pagliacci Pizza, pumpkin ale, cider and delicious pumpkin pie for dessert. After all of the eating concluded, the knives and the ice cream scoops were brought out and pumpkins were carved. On the left is a picture of Sage holding his finished pumpkin product.

Allie is a long time volunteer at Sacred Heart Shelter. For the last year and a half, the firm has joined her in preparing and serving the evening meal to families who live at the shelter for up to three months while they get back on their feet. The shelter affords safe and clean rooms together with nutritious meals and opportunities such as counseling, classes, and career guidance. Our latest meal was served on September 17th, 2008. On the left are Inga and Larry finishing the fruit salad so it is served on time at 6:00 pm.

The crew for the September service date consisted of Inga, Larry, Allie and Bobby. On the right, Bobby is explaining the burger making process and the contents for the dinner.

We barbequed burgers outside on the grill. Larry's process backfired on him (literally) since the grill was turned up a little too high. On the left Larry is making a quick move and flipping the burgers and buns. Thankfully, Inga and Allie purchased more buns than originally needed and it all turned out okay. The burgers were topped with cheese, mayo, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and ketchup. We served the burgers with Lays potato chips, fresh fruit salad, and potato and macaroni salad (Inga is below with the salads in hand).

It felt like a never-ending task of serving food as all of the guests continually came back for more! And, for dessert, we decided an end-of-summer BBQ wouldn't be complete without ice cream. It was the perfect finale for a grand meal. The ice cream was gone before it had a chance to melt.

We are already planning our next dinner for October 8th. We opened up the floor for requests and the majority voted for steaks. Steaks it is! The residents were very appreciative for our meal and Linville Law Firm was also grateful for the opportunity to serve them -- and we can't wait for October 8th.

July 25th - July 27th, 2008

Each summer our firm goes on a three day, annual retreat together to some great destination in the Northwest. This year, our destination of choice was Quinault, Washington in the Olympic National Forest. Our group activity this year was on Friday and took place at a pit stop in Shelton on the way out to Quinault.

Kapowsin Airsports is located in Shelton, Washington and was our first planned event of the retreat. After months nervously waiting for our skydiving adventure, Inga, Randy, Allie, Rachael, Seth and Craig were finally geared up and there was no turning back. Anxiously, they boarded the small Cessna and twenty minutes later they were 14,000 feet up in the air. Allie was sitting next to the door and first to swing her legs over the edge and jump out with Herb, her tandem instructor. Next was Seth, who was "not one bit nervous" (yeah, right!), then followed Rachael, who was holding her breath hoping she would live to see her second year in law school. Next were Randy and Craig, and finally dear Inga who wanted to change her mind at the last minute and stay in the plane. On the right is Inga freefalling 125mph back to earth. She loved it and wants to go back for next year's retreat!

The second group consisted of Katie and her two friends, Hamilton, Tov, and Bobby. They had heard the first group talk and hype the jump so much they were just ready to experience it for themselves. Hamilton was the last to jump and was photographed and videotaped all the way to his soft landing. On the left is Hamilton preparing to jump from the plane. Hamilton follows directions well and had his head pulled as far back as possible ready for his big descent back to solid ground.

The last group consisted of Gloria and her son, Allie (again) and her three friends. Gloria had been waiting around to jump since the first group had gone and couldn't wait for her turn. On the right is Gloria with her mouth wide open. She just watched her son jump from the plane's edge and realized her fall is very near!

Adrenaline was pumping through everyone's veins all afternoon and into the evening. What an experience! Larry, David, Sage and Christian sure missed out! Even after the two hour drive from Shelton to Lake Quinault, everyone was still stoked and buzzing about the group activity.

That evening we enjoyed a Hawaiian BBQ on the front lawn of the lodge. On the left is Stacy, Keith, Gloria, Katie, Taylor and Larry chatting it up. A touch football game was arranged on the lawn right after the dinner was over. Not long after the game had started, it was just guys playing as all of the ladies were frightened off by their competitive nature. The picture on the right is of the beautiful front lawn at the Quinault Lodge (after the aggressive game of football was cleared away).

On Saturday, some of the firm went to the Ho Rainforest, while others kayaked, biked, swam, played horseshoes, rollerbladed, went for a drive, or lounged around the lodge. It was a casual, relaxing day that ended with a nice dinner in the Roosevelt Room at the Lodge. Cedar plank salmon, steak, and other fine dishes were on the menu for the night. On the left are Stacy and Keith at dinner; he flew up all the way from Nebraska to spend the weekend with Stacy and the firm! Almost married, Alida is on the right enjoying the meal; this picture was taken creatively by Larry, over Aaron (her fiancé's) shoulder.
